We have set the benchmark for ethical, professional debt collection and credit management in Tasmania. Maintaining the reputation and brand of our clients is as important to us as it is to you. We tailor a professional and respectful approach to protect the reputation of our clients in all our dealings.

Chris Brown... Chief Executive Officer, Coogans Tasmania
We strive to be the best in the world at being the most ethical and respectful debt collection agency. This means excelling at ethical standards, transparent communication, and treating all parties involved with dignity and respect.
Our values describe how we are expected to behave as we pursue success. These values define what TCS looks and feels like to ourselves and our clients. TCS is a values-based organisation and as such, our actions and decisions must fall within the boundaries of these values:
At Tasmanian Collection Service, we are committed to ethical, respectful, and compliant collection practices. Our staff are thoroughly trained in relevant legislation—including the Privacy Act 1988, Australian Privacy Principles, and ACCC & ASIC Debt Collection Guidelines—to ensure professional conduct at every stage of the process.
We take the time to understand each customer’s unique financial circumstances and work towards outcomes that are fair, sustainable, and beneficial for both the customer and our client. Payment options are explained clearly, and arrangements are confirmed in writing via mail or email.
We also conduct regular bankruptcy checks, with collection activity paused immediately upon confirmation of a bankruptcy status.
At times, legal action becomes a necessary step in the recovery process. Tasmanian Collection Service works with a team of licensed, court-appointed agents to manage the service of legal documents and enforcement proceedings.
We partner with trusted law firms to conduct litigation on our behalf, ensuring all actions are carried out ethically, fairly, and in good faith.
We recognise that some customers may experience genuine financial hardship due to a variety of circumstances. Tasmanian Collection Service is committed to treating these individuals with fairness, respect, and compassion.
Our team is trained to work with customers to identify appropriate solutions and, where applicable, may request completion of a Financial Hardship Application. This form can be submitted directly to us, or we can provide a copy to the customer by post or email.
In cases where a debt may have resulted from identity theft, we will pause collection activity for 20 business days upon notification to allow for an investigation. If additional time is required, we will follow up accordingly. Should identity theft be confirmed, we will immediately close our file.
All agreed outcomes, including payment arrangements or case closures, are confirmed in writing via mail or email for your records.
